What is hyperparathyroidism?
The parathyroid hormone regulates calcium and phosphate levels and helps to maintain these levels. Primary disease results from overactive parathyroid glands themselves. Secondary disease is the reaction of the parathyroid glands to other conditions such as chronic kidney disease.
