What is Langerhans cell histiocytosis?
Langerhans cell histiocytosis, which is also called histiocytosis X, is a condition in which there is an abnormal increase in the number of immune cells called histiocytes. It often affects the whole body. When isolated to the lungs it is known as pulmonary histiocytosis X.
