What is viral meningitis?
Viral meningitis is inflammation of the meninges of the brain or spinal cord caused by a viral infection. It is often indistinguishable from that of acute bacterial meningitis. Confirmation of viral meningitis is determined by testing the spinal fluid after which treatment is determined.
