What is rectal outlet dysfunction?
Rectal Outlet Dysfunction is defined as the incoordination of the muscles of the pelvic floor during attempted evacuation. Although most patients have normal colonic transit, stool is not expelled when it reaches the rectum, which contributes to prolonged or excessive straining and discomfort.
