A cryoplasty is a surgical procedure similar to an angioplasty. A balloon catheter is insert into a blocked artery to repair an obstruction within the vessel. In cryoplasty, once the balloon catheter reaches the blockage, the surrounding tissue is frozen to prevent reoccurrence of the blockage.
